Five Years Later

December 4, 2020 • Life

Wow. How has it been five years already? Where in the world has the time gone? It’s crazy how time flies and gets away from you so quickly. I honestly couldn’t tell you why it’s been so long, but that is just how life is sometimes I guess.

There has been so much that has happened in that time. Most of it is in the past year and a half. Robert and I got married (finally!), got two dogs, and stopped working. So much has changed and I don’t know where to even begin.

This year alone has been filled with so many ups and downs. While there has been a lot of bad going on in the world, I feel like personally, life is going pretty okay. I don’t have too many reasons to complain.

At the end of last year, on November 8, Robert and I finally got married. We were hoping to get married in May of 2016, but it never worked out. But finally, after being engaged for so long and having to wait (very impatiently) it finally happened. We didn’t have a big wedding, just a small ceremony at the courthouse with a few close friends and family. We settled into married life pretty easily and it wasn’t much of an adjustment for us. We went away the weekend of our anniversary for a few days to celebrate. We never had a honeymoon so we thought why not take a few days for ourselves?

I ended up losing my job in June because of the pandemic and they just couldn’t afford to keep my position. I wasn’t too upset about it because I honestly was planning to leave once I hit the 5-year mark. My job just wasn’t what it used to be. So now I’m just trying to find ways to keep myself busy. My husband has a great job, so I don’t need to be working and it’s so much easier for us if I’m not.

We also got not one, but two dogs now, Emi and Mya. They keep me pretty busy because it feels like I’m taking care of two toddlers all day. They are as sweet as can be and I love them so much even if they can be little pains sometimes. I can’t wait to share more of them with you.

There is so much I want to share, but I’m trying to keep things short. I plan to do future posts on these different topics in more detail. I want to have things documented for the future, and I’m honestly wishing I had been doing so over the past few years because I honestly can’t remember much before June of 2019 aside from a few major life things. I hope you’ll join me on this journey that is my life.
