About Catiebug

Hello, I’m Catie1, a 29-year-old New Year’s baby born and raised in Maryland. I have Osteogenesis Imperfecta and in a wheelchair – but don’t think I let that hold me back. I’m married to the love of my life Robert since November 8, 2019. We have two dogs, Emi Lou2 and Mya Rae3

I’m a self-taught web developer and have been doing web design on my own since about 2001. I have a major obsession with books and I can be found spending a lot of my time reading. I’m a girl with many hobbies, most being something to do with art or creativity. I also have a love for gaming.

When it comes to music, I tend to be listening to country, some top 40, and just anything else I come across that is pleasing to my ears. I love listening to instrumental jazz music when I’m reading. I love drinking sweet tea, especially peach tea, and eating pretty much anything chocolate. I’m always up for trying new things because it keeps life interesting. I’m not someone who enjoys going out to a bar or a club on a Friday night and spend most of my time with my husband, my family, reading, or in front of my computer.

My faith

I’m a follower of Christ and it’s a big part of my life. While I grew up knowing about Jesus, who He was, and what He did, that was about it. I didn’t start going to church or growing in my faith until after I met my husband and he invited me to join him. My walk with the Lord hasn’t been the best, but recently I’m been growing in my relationship with Him and loving every minute. I’m continuing to learn about His grace and love each day and so grateful for it. I’m understanding how much I really need Him and what He did for me. He’s been working so much in my heart and my life recently and I can’t wait to see where he takes me!

About ‘Catiebug.me’

Catiebug is a nickname I’ve had since I was younger. When I decided I wanted to make my own website I had a really hard time coming up with a name and my uncle suggested Catiebug. I was a little hesitant since I wasn’t crazy about the nickname at the time, but as the years have gone by I’ve come to love it and use it for everything now.

I began working with web design in about 2001/2002. I wanted to create a fan website for a girl band I liked which I created using a free web service. After working with it for about a year, I began blogging on Xanga as I continued to work on my coding and design skills. I decided in late 2004/early 2005 to open Catiebug.com4. I didn’t know what kind of website I wanted it to be for a while, so I just used it for a while to play around and figure things out. Then eventually it became my personal blog where I tended to use it as a journal. Also, in about 2011 I started a book blog, Escape to Wonderland, where I wrote book reviews and other book-related blog posts. It’s also been quite some time since I’ve written there, but I may go back to it again one day.

I stopped blogging in April 2008 and I took a break until March 2015 when I wanted to get back into blogging. I decided to back up all my old posts and just start fresh. So much time had passed and at the time my old posts were written I was a teenager in high school. My writing style and content since then and matured and changed. I didn’t end up blogging for very long, only a few months, but here we are at the end of 2020 and recently I’ve been more involved online and wanted to get back into blogging again.
